hometown is Calgary, AB but I was born and raised in
Vancouver, BC. We moved to Calgary in 1997. I was a stay at home Mom for over 6 years to 6 1/2 year old Taylor and 3 year old Jaiden until I went back to work part-time as a CSR and I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for 2 1/2 years now. My husband Bill and I have been married for 8 years. Like most people we lead a very busy life!
Stampin' Up! is a wonderful company to be a part of. Cardmaking, Scrapbooking and Papercrafts is a hobby that I have become very passionate about. Each morning when I sit at my computer and visit my favorite websites and blogs I can't help but become very excited and passionate about what people are creating all over the World, it's a great way to start my day.

Choosing a Scrapbook Theme (www.scrapbookersparadise.com)
Think about the kind of scrapbook you want to create before you begin. With a scrapbook theme in mind, you can purchase an album, plan your layouts and buy coordinated paper and specific embellishments (experts love a consistent look on each page).
Take a look at some possibilities:
A Chronological Album
Most traditional photo albums are chronological: pictures appear in the order they are taken. Most of my scrapbooks are this way. I primarily scrapbook sequentially with photos organized by date.
A Child’s Album
I started a scrapbook of my second son’s baby photos and used it as his baby book. I captured milestones: his ultrasounds, first cry, footprints, visitors, first bottle, first meal, the first time he got sick (Chicken Pox when he was 2 ½ months old … had to scrap that!), his first haircut, etc. I’m also creating a “life book” for my adopted daughter, starting with our decision to adopt and documenting each step of our journey.
A School Days Album
I have albums capturing my boys’ first days of school, class photos, portraits, class parties at Halloween, Christmastime, the last day of school, plays, talent shows, after school activities, etc. I started with preschool and will continue to scrapbook for them through junior high and high school (then they’re on their own!).
A Holiday Album
I love the photo cards we receive during the holidays, especially those from people I rarely see (old friends, college buddies, former colleagues, etc.). I now scrap the cards I receive, then do layouts of my kids’ visit with Santa, holiday parties, Christmas Eve and Christmas morning and put them in a holiday album that sits on the coffee table each December for all to enjoy.
A Heritage Album
My father loves genealogy. The data he’s collected on our ancestors doesn’t interest me, their photographs do. I want a scrapbook dedicated to my heritage. Beginning with a photo of my mother (her high school graduation picture, a beautiful 8 x 10 black and white portrait), I did a layout using “heritage” themed paper and embellishments. It’s just start but I can’t wait to do more.
An “About Me” Album
I created an 8 x 8 album “All About Me” that includes pages on my family, friends, faith, favorite things, hobbies, what makes me laugh, etc. If there’s ever a day I’m not around for my kids, they’ll still be able to know the real me. (I’m a breast cancer survivor; these thoughts cross my mind.) It was also fun, to focus on me for a change and celebrate the things that are important to me as a unique individual.
My father belongs to the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Photographs of training drills and Coast Guard vessels were in envelopes on his desk. I purchased a Coast Guard album and a coordinating paper pack, added some boating and marine themed embellishments to the pages, and then surprised him with an album for Christmas.
On my son’s last day of Kindergarten, another mother and presented the teacher with a scrapbook we’d collaborated on. We included photos of class activities, students getting on and off the bus, notes of gratitude from the other moms and each child’s newly learned signature.
You can scrapbook a friend’s journey to the altar and give it to her as an engagement gift, the ups and downs of pregnancy and childbirth to give as a baby gift, the highlights of a child’s first year to give as a birthday gift. Who wouldn’t want a gift made by hand, from the heart that clearly took so much time and effort?
A Theme of Your Choosing
A perfect wedding, a Disney vacation, beloved pets, treasured family recipes, fixing up a new home … scrapbook themes are unlimited (I recently came across a Boy Scouts album I might need for my Cub Scout son one day).
Think it over, plan your scrapbook before you start spending, and choose appropriate photos. You’ll be happier with the choices you make if you take time up front to decide upon a theme.
FRIENDLY REMINDER: The holiday season is a busy time for Stampin' Up! Please order all your supplies earlier than later for making holiday cards, projects, papercrafts, etc to avoid disappointment. It has happened in past years that some colors of cardstock, ink, etc have gone on backorder early.
Great opportunity for exposure in Calgary. I received this email last night.
I am a segment producer for the HGTV show "That's Clever!" based down in the United States and came upon your web site while searching for artists to profile for our show. Please visit our web site at: www.hgtv.com or check you local listings for air time in your area.
We are currently casting for another season and plan to be taping in the Calgary area from November 30th through December 14th. We are looking hip artists and crafters who are high energy and would be comfortable showing us how to make one of his/her pieces on camera. I have attached the flyer about our search, as well as an artist application in hopes that you might be willing to help us spread the word. Casting a show like this is really a word-of-mouth type of search, and we are confident exposure in a newsletter, on your web site or through an e-mail would no doubt reach your talented artists and crafters who have something to share. We would encourage those interested to submit as soon as possible, since our shoot dates are fast approaching.
Thank you so much for your time and please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
