What is MichelleScrapbooking.com?

MichelleScrapbooking is a website that I, Michelle in Calgary have put together to showcase my hand made greeting cards and projects. I was as much a beginner as anyone else a few years ago but because of my passion for stampin' & scrappin' I have become better and better and have showcased many of my cards and projects on this site and on my blog.

Why make my own cards?

On an average a household may use 30-50 cards per year for the following:

3) Easter
4) Valentine
5) Anniversary
6) Children school valentine + Halloween
7) Graduation
8) Get well
9) Sympathy
10) Congratulations
11) Good luck/best wishes
12) Baby/bridal showers
13) Invitation/Announcements (parties/birth/engagements)
14) New year
15) Thanksgiving
16) Canada Day
17) Mother's day
18) Father's day
19) Grandparents day
20) Sweetest day
21) Wedding
22) Baptism/Christening
23) Teacher appreciation
24) Thank-you
25) Thinking of you
26) Saint Patrick's day
27) Fall festival
28) Secret sister/pal/admirer
29) Remembrance Day
30) Boss/Secretary/Nurse's Day

I imagine there are some more but these are the common reasons for cards.

30 cards = $118.50 at $3.95 each  
Now, to take it a step further, now buy a pack of Stampin' Up! cardstock that has 24 sheets per pack.  24 sheets is equivalant to 48 cards per pack.  So I will work with the 48 cards to figure costs.  48 x $3.95 = $189.60 (plus taxes)
WOW…48 store bought cards would cost $189.60 (plus taxes) whereas a pack of cardstock costs only $6.46 for a pack of 24 sheets (plus shipping & GST).

Could I really be any good at this?

Of course you can make great cards and projects at home! I put on free Workshops in the Calgary and surrounding areas teaching people in only a couple of hours how to make cards and other papercrafts. Each person that attends one of my workshops even has the chance to take home 2 make n' takes, all for FREE.

I've been using Stampin' Up!® products for over 5 years now. Stampin' Up! makes rubber stamps and sells cardstock, ink, wheels, scrapbooking supplies and many accessories and gives you the resources to help you design and make beautiful cards, projects and scrapbook pages inexpensively (the breakdown for a card once you have the supplies is approximately 14 cents per card) and easily. I regularly get together with friends and have a great time making cards and scrapbooking and chatting and of course learning new techniques to make even better cards, projects and scrapbook pages all the time.
